Over the course of the last five years, First Baptist Church of Kennett Square has grown in relationship with the Good News Baptist Church (GNBC) of Lomé, Togo and their evangelical outreach organization, the Good News Soldiers (GNS). Read more about that here and here.
God has grown what began as the occasional sharing of prayer requests over instant messenger into GNS being recognized as an official NGO in Togo and, very recently, a recognized partner of International Ministries (IM).
GNS is a network of churches and volunteers in Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. Their ministry takes the good news of the Gospel to small villages throughout these countries in a number of ways, including:
- running vacation Bible schools
- discipling local leadership
- childhood education
- teaching people to make soap from available materials for their own hygiene and for sale to support their families
- distributing soap and masks in Togo during the COVID-19 pandemic

Working for the Lord of the harvest
All of the activities of the ministry are funded by the income of the Afangbedjee family. The on-going COVID-19 pandemic has had an outsized effect on West Africa generally and on this family’s ability to earn a wage and find a stable living situation in particular. Please consider contributing to their support. A few ongoing donations of $5/month would be very impactful.
